A small quantity of these 2002 season IRL Chevy V8 engines were purchased to reconfigure for street use where they would see installation in street rods and custom vehicles. This engine was the first of the series which is now installed in a Shelby Cobra continuation chassis. The car itself received high-tech treatment from the realms of IRL, CART and formula 1 as the owner of the vehicle is a top manufacturer of products many clients racing in these series. Although the engine's displacement is small by traditional standards, its incredibly quick throttle response and flat torque curve create a blistering performance package for the Cobra. fortunately, the car is equipped with a selectable traction control operated via the engine's MoTeC ECU.
